This photo captures the moment of my roommate. I took this photo because I think it represents her outlook and expression. When taking this photo around us it was pretty quiet and dark except for a few lights. The light on her face draws you into her eyes where there are many highlights. I think without this light the photo would be presented differently and have a different meaning. I really wanted to capture her optimism of the future while also demonstrating a very monochromatic colour scheme reflecting how she still has more to learn and explore on her journey. The colour and the way the light is presented is almost melancholic. It captures the thought of the past and the good times and bad times where she has developed her character, but also it captures the movement of light in the future, looking out to new opportunities and experiences.
